Three Amazon.com Inc. warehouse employees sued the retail giant on Wednesday in New York, alleging working conditions put them and their families at risk of contracting the coronavirus. The suit, reported by Bloomberg, claims unsafe working conditions. One of the plaintiffs,
Barbara Chandler, says she contracted the virus in March at Amazon’s Staten Island, N.Y., distribution center, where employees “were explicitly or implicitly encouraged to continue attending work and prevented from adequately washing their hands or sanitizing their workstations.” Chandler’s cousin, whom she lived with, died after experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, the lawsuit alleges. Amazon was not immediately available for comment.
